TEACHERS

Head Teacher: Tim Zentetsu Burkett
Tim began practicing Zen Buddhism in California in 1964 with Suzuki Roshi while a student at Stanford University.
He was ordained as a Zen priest in 1978 by Katagiri Roshi, whom he had worked with in California. Tim served as president of MZMC from 1978 to 1983. A Ph.D psychologist, Tim received authorization to teach independently from Karen Sunna in 2002 and became the Head Teacher at MZMC on November 1 of that year. He is married with two grown children.

Norm Daitetsu Randolph
Daitetsu Randolph began his studies with MZMC founding teacher Dainin Katagiri Roshi in California in 1969. He followed Katagiri to Minnesota and was ordained in 1978. In addition to his work as a patient transporter in a hospital, he serves as a teacher and lecturer at MZMC.

Dokai Georgeson Dokai is the resident practitioner at Hokyoji, MZMC's country retreat facility in southern Minnesota. He studied with Dainin Katagiri Roshi, and has practiced in Japan.
