UNKYO GINNY GELMS
Priest-In-Training
Unkyō Ginny Gelms (she/her) began a daily meditation practice in 2017. Seeking an opportunity for retreat practice, she found her way to Minnesota Zen Meditation Center in 2021 and stayed for the community she found here. She received Zen initiation from Ben Connelly in 2023 and ordination as a priest-in-training from Ben two years later. She feels called to the Bodhisattva vow as a beautiful orientation for her life and is engaged with the question of how to live each moment as an expression of this vow.
She is devoted to her work as a public servant in elections administration, and in her free time enjoys reading and singing karaoke in her living room. She lives in Minneapolis with her partner and two cherished kitties.
