Racial Justice Action Candlelight Vigil at George Floyd Square May 25th from 8-10 pm If you are interested in attending, please contact info@mnzencenter.org.
Racial Justice Action (RJA) is a new MZMC program emerging from members asking for organized activities to support work for racial justice outside the walls of MZMC. RJA is focused on partnering with community groups and following the leadership of people of color to honor our vows to practice for the well-being of all. The RJA steering committee is Ted O'Toole, Ben Connelly, and Jey Ehrenhalt.
MZMC's Racial Justice Action group would like to invite you to attend a candlelight vigil at George Floyd Square on May 25th from 8-10 p.m. The vigil will mark the anniversary of George Floyd's death. The event will include a performance by the Minnesota Orchestra, and words from Nelson Mandela's grandson.
The gathering will start at George Floyd Square and move to the Say Their Names cemetery nearby. We will gather at the corner of 39th and Chicago on the NE corner of Phelps field park beginning at 7:45pm. If you are interested in attending, please contact info@mnzencenter.org.
Organizers have invited folks to wear religious symbols and clothing, so rakusus are welcome and priests in particular are invited to wear clergy vestments.
Finally, organizers are looking for some assistance with the event. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up via this link.
