Weekend Sesshins
Weekend Sesshin Offered Online and In Person
At these traditional meditation retreats, we follow the forms and rituals used in the Soto Zen tradition for centuries. Weekend sesshins includes zazen, kinhin (walking meditation), liturgy, dharma talks, formal vegetarian meals using oryoki ( for in-person attendees only), dokusan (one-to-one meetings with the teacher), and work practice. If you are new to sesshin practice at MZMC, attendance at the Zen Forms and Etiquette class is required. Please note that we will be starting at 7:00 a.m., rather than the usual 5:45 a.m. You will receive an email with detailed information three days prior to the retreat.
- May 12 - 14 with Tim Burkett (Registration is now closed.)
These retreats begin at 7:00 on Friday evening with an orientation and meditation ending at 9 p.m. All participants must attend the orientation.
Three meals are served on Saturday and two in Sunday for in-person participants.
Please register by May 7.

A Note About Donation-only Programming
Following the Buddhist tradition of dana, or giving, MZMC offers all of our programs on a donation basis. We offer a suggested donation amount to help people understand the average amount we hope to receive to continue to make these offerings. We encourage those with more capacity for giving to make a donation above the suggested amount to support those who need to give a smaller amount.
