One-Day Online Retreat
Opening the Heart to Just Sitting
One-Day Online Retreat with Mark Turbak
Saturday, April 20, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Shikantaza practice, or just sitting, holds a central place in the teachings of Dogen Zenji and Soto Zen practice as a whole. This retreat is an opportunity for people who live at a distance from MZMC, or who find it more convenient to practice at home, to explore shikantaza practice in a setting designed specifically for virtual participants. Throughout the day, participants are encouraged to maintain silence, minimize distractions, and foster a sense of deep quiet. In addition to periods of sitting and walking meditations, the retreat will also feature a dharma talk and opportunities for movement practice and work practice.
This retreat is offered online only.
Please register five days in advance.

A Note About Donation-only Programming
Following the Buddhist tradition of dana, or giving, MZMC offers all of our programs on a donation basis. We offer a suggested donation amount to help people understand the average amount we hope to receive to continue to make these offerings. We encourage those with more capacity for giving to make a donation above the suggested amount to support those who need to give a smaller amount.
